You going to update your avatar?

I ask because I think that is the best boating avatar I have ever seen, and I doubt seriously you could top it.

Your photograph in your boat, you going to change that to something with the new boat?

PostSubject: Oh, that's an avatar. OK   Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:40 pm

You mean my pic for this sight? Yeah, it's probably my favorite personal pic in my life. Its on my facebook, I really like it. You can't really tell what sailboat I'm on, so unless I get an even better pic on the C27, its staying.

Monster ordeal to get this new boat. Loan approved at just over 2% or I would have taken a big hit on some retirement investments. Interest is low, pmts are low, so in the end, it'll all be worth it.

Loan lady did not contact me or return my calls for 25 hours, though I left 2 detailed messages explaining my ordeal...finally drove over there...she was at a Dr. Hmmm! or, rather @#$^*%^!!!

She called back, I was pleasant, we set a closing for 10:30 on Thursday because my wife could not get away today or tomorrow, and Thrusday was our first available window.

Called seller, she will meet us there for closing Thursday a.m.

Seller and I agreed to go out to the boat early Saturday morning to show us the nuances of the boat.

Loan officer will not get away with how she treated me like $#1^!

So, I'm not past my CM crush--at all! Still love the boats. Still trying to sell mine, though I've lowered my price beyond my comfort level. This is not an ad, this is a statement. I am now only asking $3,500, will accept $3,300 as my bottom line price. Nice boat, with a 10hp motor and really nice, newer trailer. In a good economy, I could have held out and sold MT Nest for $4,500, coming down from $4,995 asking price. I know the valley market. And its tanked as far as boat prices go.

My Catalina 27 seller was asking $15,500. They list in NADA and other places, and my credit union listed it between $13k and $17k. The seller asked $15,500. I offered $13k, we settled on $13,500. In a good market, the seller could have gotten her asking price and more. I researched numerous sites and the average ASKING price across all sites was $13,974, so I am paying about average actual SETTLED price across the board.

But, "Myott" will be well worth it, roller furler, wheel, 18hp Universal diesel with I believe 450 hours, spotless inside and out, new fabric, great sails, new standing and running rigging, beautiful teak, anchor locker, dual safety lines, swim ladder, widow covers, alcohol stove, lazy jacks, hot and cold water, new head, and a new $1,650 autopilot system installed. Where's the friggin' tiller, honey? Where's the red sailbag? Where's the downhaul? Where's the jib halyard?

So, I will let my CM26 go for $3,300, hopefully this weekend. I have to move mine out of my slip and my new Catalina 27 into my slip.

So, seriously, how do I get an emoticon that has a 27? The sailboat one below is p r e t t y lame.

Here ya go Mark.....27_/) Laughing

Man I still don't believe the level of un-profesionalism displayed by that LO!!

I'm still sending positive vibes your way and hope the closing goes w/out a hitch. Also hoping for the best of weather for the weekend for you. You certainly deserve it.

Can't wait to bring this site up and see a post titled "She's Ours" Cool

PostSubject: The boat or the LO?   Tue Apr 17, 2012 6:29 pm

...referring to your "...She's ours!" comment. :-) hoping to be able to report that on both!

Seriously, this lady has a chip on her shoulder, never says good-bye or thank you on the phone, just "uh-huh" or "mm-hmm" and hangs up? Who does that? Who does that in a service industry?
she's in for a serious dress down by her superiors when I am done writing and meeting with them in person. When you complain about a terrible customer experience and you are calm, professional and avoid showing off your captain / pirate salty language, its amazing how much weight that will carry.

Funny you should comment on the weather, Ev. Last Saturday, it was cold (a Phoenix standard for cold) at about 54 or 60 for a high with a very cold hard wind blowing through. Brrrr! This Saturday when the seller hands over the keys, the high is forecast at 100 degrees for the day! That's why we're meeting early Sat. a.m.

This time of year, that heat will bleed off pretty quickly as the sun sets and it will be a great nighttime temp on the lake...see where I'm headed? Yep, try to convince the crew (wifey) to stay overnight. Otherwise, I'm staying alone that night.

I think it will be great to hang out at the bar, listen to the band, dance a bit, watch the others get drunk (I do not drink...I get an alergic reaction when I drink...I throw up violently, repeatedly), and then retire to the cockpit to sit under the stars, and head downstairs to drift off (almost literally) to sleep on...come on...you know what's next...drift off to sleep on....

...ahem...

Myott!!!

Really like that fabric over the OUTSIDE of the windows. I am for sure copying that idea.
