I felt a bit guilty leaving the Clipper in Wisconsin to fend for herself last winter while I soaked up the sun in the Keys. I was always there keeping the snow off as best I could. Even so there were times when an rain/ice storm would fill her w/ ice and I had to wait till spring. I feel better that it was a mild winter there. It will be her last frozen winter.

Here are some scenes from years past.

Around here, everyone that can, shrink wraps them. Costs a couple hundred dollars. I will be shrink wrapping Sugar Bee in the fall, and leaving her at the locked dry lot. In the spring, they unwrap all the boats, and put them back in the water again.

Last year, my boats were in my Morton building, but this year, my sailboats have gotten too tall, plus I really do not want to step the mast

It would have been great to do the shrink wrap. Problem number one was the nearest place that did it was 40 miles away. Add to that I had heard horror stories of burned gel coat from more than one source. Maybe they didn't do enough to get the experience level I don't know.

Also the only time I had to work on Gone was winter to very early spring. Not that I could do much but I got a few things done as well as making plans and getting measurements for future improvements. Always nice to sit in the cockpit w/ a cup o Joe in the morning sun even if it was 45 degrees and just dream of sailing.

The interior picture was the only time the bilge/sole was ever that full. Busy fall and I hadn't gotten the bilge pumped so it was likely full. Then an early December heavy rain turned frozen and it was like that before I knew it. I felt terrible for letting her down and never let it happen again.

I don't actually drink much myself. I go for quality rather than quantity. I enjoy searching for new craft beers to try. I collect the cardboard sides from six packs and decorate my bar w/ then. Over 600 different varieties so far. Like collecting matchbooks only better. Very Happy

I figure beer bottles are a good size reference in photos. Notice a couple are still capped.

Thought I had more pics in my Photobucket but the ice-out ones were all. I may have some interior shots on an old blog post that I can transfer to PB and then to here. Sucking off hospital wifi right now so I will see what I can do.
