Just finished fabricating a new handle for my keel winch. Much better than the bolt with a small plastic sheath I had ( and lost ) before. Whadda think?

That is nice!

Those would sell on eBay and lots of folks have drop keels. Thousands of potential Mac owners alone.

Thanks. I'll have to post a pic of the triple pulley deck organizers I fabbed but didn't use due to the rounded deck profile. Kinda nice to fire up the little lathe now and then just for fun.

Might just give that a try, nothin to lose but money, right? Thought I'd show you some of my other handywork. These are deck organizers I fabbed out of aluminum and UHMW plastic. Kinda sad I couldn't use them but there was too much curvature in the deck and I didn't want to make a wooden shim to use them. Just used cheek blocks instead.

Wow they look sweet. Are you a machinist or part time metal fab dude? Nice work and if I need something machined can I put you to work?

I do hobby machine work on a small 3in 1 mill/drill/lathe combo. If you need anything let me know and we'll see what can be done. All I usually need is a drawing and what materials you want it made out of. Also can to modifications on existing work if it is out of spec or damaged. Thank you for your kind words.

Listed the organizers and am fabricating a couple of the handles to list and see what happens. Listing for the organizers is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271019684280&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I always have fun watching what happens when I auction something. Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Update: Sold the pair for $67.75. I think we're both happy. Going to get onto making up a couple of the handles and see where that goes. Thanks again.

Hell yea. Nice work.

The only thing I noticed is that these need to be anodized. Raw aluminum will oxidize in a relatively short time. At my company we get aluminum anodized by batches and its not too expensive. Mostly in clear and black anodized.

Otherwise I think its cool as hell that you made this and sold them, the old American way.

Looking into anodizing at home. A rubber tub, a few toxic chemicals and a little electricity. What could go wrong?

I appreciate that. I managed to get as far as an Associate degree in Electronics Technology, but never got the chance to go on for my BSEET due to time/money constraints. I actually looked up the process some time back but most of the info I stored in my head on the subject leaked out. If you have any info on anodizing I would be most appreciative if you shared. Most of my time is spent programming PLCs and troubleshooting breakdowns of automated equipment. Not a lot of time to keep up my electronics skills.
