Not many sailing days left in Nebraska. Lows lately have been 5 degrees over freezing. Not long till the first hard freeze. Need the boat out of the water and winterized by that time. Many boats get booted off the lake Oct 15 as that is when the wooden docks get dismantled and placed on shore.

My dock is steel and concrete and stays in the frozen ice all winter.

One diehard will often wait till the last minute, but he now has a different sailboat he is not so familiar with so we will see.

I imagine Nov 1 is about as long as I will wait. As the saying goes, depends on the weather.

Maybe sail two or three more times this season.

The season was a bad one in that it was so hot. Who wants to sail in 106 or 108 degrees? Not me.

Last Saturday was perfect temps

Hopefully tomorrow is 78 with steady 15mph winds.

Sounds like tomorrow should be nice for you if can make it out.

My sailing bro in Milwaukee was the guy there who pushes it till the end. Usually mid to late Nov. As you say depends on the weather.

Well that was always the time of year when, after seven months of working every Saturday, I finally got one off. We would go for a sail, drop by SSYC for a burger, beer and warm up. Then back to the ramp and pull the boat for the year. Couple of years it was my only sail of the year.

Having a friend that points to wind would be a great tool! My best friend only does that out the window of my truck or motorcycle sidecar. On the sailboat he mostly sleeps.

Had a good time. There was a race going on but no one bothered telling me.

I did race a Hunter 33 a few feet till he hit a sandbar. I was overtaking him. Maybe he beached rather than loose? Lol
