| I am y make the trip this summer, still too early to decide. There are a lot of Clippers in Portland on the river so I am also trying to put together a regatta or get together for Aug. or Sept.
I would love to start a fleet here. |

| looking at that map of where all the clippers are, i see 4 major clusters. up there in washington, in california, around the great lakes, and in florida. just curious as to if anyone has tried to put together a regional meeting? being from the great lakes, the drive to any of the other 3 is quite a long one. |

| I will be launching in the bay, hopefully in late morning. No currently functioning radio. I have CM in red on the main sail. |

| I'll be looking for your boat. Mine is white with blue accents. Also has CM26 on sail. We're lauching from Pt. Defiance, catching some fishing on the way across and then moving on to Gig Harbor. |

| Well, that didn't go as planned... I found a bad electrical plug on the trailer so had to start the day by getting parts. The ship wasn't straight on the trailer so I drove down to the local launch to pull her off and try again. That didn't work because the tide was out far enough I can't launch there. Drove up to Gig Harbor with the sailboat off center. Found the ramp and found that the lower part of the ramp flattens off so I can't launch at any thing less than about mid tide. I sat at the ramp with the mast up for more that two hours waiting for the tide to come in and then still had to tie her to the dock and pull the trailer out from under her. That is getting old. By the time we motored out to the entrance to Gig Harbor it was just after 4pm. No wind in the main sound so we turned around and motored back into the bay to see if there was anyone else. Mob scene of boats out and about. Finally found a bit of wind in the harbor and sailed back and forth between the anchored boats and crab pots. Also annoyed the motorboats who were putting around and didn't want to think about right of way. About 6pm we tried to find dock space at the Tides INN but it was packed. Headed back to the ramp where the tide was in full and put the ship back on the trailer. Managed to get it off the other side this time... sigh... Dragged it home and hit the pad the first try. Now sitting inside thinking about doing the clean up or not... |

| Arrived at Gig Harbor later than planned, about 2:00 PM. No Clippers anywhere I could see. Sorry Triticum got such a late start or we would have met up sooner or later. Pulled out of the harbor about 3:00 to head back to the launch. Had to steer hard to port the whole crossing just to keep from being swept down the Narrows. Quite a current running through there. Going to have to plan a trip through there with the tide. Maybe next time we'll get a chance to meet up. |

| Leave for next week has been approved. I plan to tow Triticum up to Anacortes and launch her there. We will spend the next week off the north side of the San Juan Islands. This will be our first actual cruise with her. Really looking forward to the trip. |

| You'll love it. Sucia is a great stop and if you stop by Jones Island on your way there I understand the deer there are very tame and approachable. Last time there I lauched out of Bellingham, but I wanted to get to the islands faster. Have a great time.
