1983, Just Married, Discovered Sailing

In. 1983, i was freshly married and enjoying the world. Out of college, working and a new bride. I had discovered garage sales, and was taking full of them to aquire items for our apartment.

I had never been sailing, never wanted to, when a home made wooden sailboat caught my eye at one of the yard sales.

Soon after the purchase, it was off to the lake. Holmes lake in Lincoln Nebraska. Blink and you would miss it driving by. Lol

In a couple hours, i was able to figure out how the sailboat worked, but not exactly how to work it. In the next week or two, i found it nessasary to push back off most every bank on that lake, most of them, several times.

Before the summer was over, i sold the home made sailboat, and had purchased two factory made day sailboats. One like one ofthem is the subject of the video I found.

I had a great time in these boats, the time of my life.

My wife and I purchased a house, and the boats were sold to make the down payment.

That was nearly 30 years ago, and i had totally forgotten about sailing.

Last fall something clicked in me when i saw a paddle boat at a fsrm store. The next day, i purchased a Mac 25 and have been off and running full blast trying to get back all those wasted years.

I am so sorry life got in the way of my favorite thing i have ever done, sailing. Wont let that happen again.

At least you came back.
