Hello,
As always, I'm checking out other boats on eBay and Craigslist to 'steal' decorating ideas and I ran across this nifty looking boat in Baltimore. I'm not familiar with it but I'm sure one of the more 'in the know' members of this group can shed some light on it!!

She is a beauty.   189 thousand is a bit steep???  I bet it was less than that new.

By the time you add this or that, change this or that, pay the taxes on her, pay to dock her, and put a can of franks and beans on the shelf, there goes a quarter million dollars.  That is a big price to eat franks and beans from a tin.

Still, not many sailboats have been lauded, best sailboat in the world.

Thanks for this post.  Makes the money I have in my yard, seem a little more reasonable.

That would have been a Clipper Marine if the company had not been screwed over, Can you imagine the image clipper marine would have had if Crealock got to produce that boat before the CEO shafted him.

Speaking of image, I read a lot of negative stuff on 'other' forums about Clipper Marine products and really don't understand why. I have bumped into folks (not literally) while sailing in the Chesapeake Bay and they express surprise when I tell them it's a Clipper Marine boat that I'm in.
They typically say they really like the lines and styling of the boat but had read some bad stuff about them in the past.

I hand people their ass, in other forums, when they talk down CM or Crealock.  Those people have never seen a CM up close, sailed on one, or have any true knowledge.

History is left to the winners to pen, and because CM went out of business, it was not available to defend itself.   The history of CM, was left to others, that usually got it wrong.

CM was built to be trailer-able, and because of that, lightweight materials were their choice.   In spite of this, look how many CM's are still in service!  They also have a fine safety record on the water.

My ship turned 40 last month.  The surface of the gelcoat is rough. As usual, she could use a serious scrub.  She is a pleasure to sail and I see no reason she can't easily do another 10 years.

If she can do 14 years, I will be looking at retirement and may start looking for a blue water cruiser.  I'd love to take a few years and cruise up to SE Alaska, one bay at a time.

Maybe the kids will be at a point where they would like a trailer sailor.  I don't know what the life of these boats will actually end up being.  With only a couple of exceptions, the major difference between this boat and a five year old one is the worn gel coat.  With a modest amount of money, it can all be fixed.
