Hi everyone!

My name is Ken and I live in Savannah, Georgia.  I was lucky enough to recently be given a CM 21 that was previously owned by my cousin for a only a few years herself.  The extent of my research shows that the boat was also previously owned by someone in Augusta, Georgia and prior to that by someone in Rhode Island.  I found an old sales ad for the boat online where she carried the name Wonderful Tonight.  The boat has seen some neglect but from my estimation is in fairly good shape given it's obvious age.

This is my first sailboat and I am an admittedly inexperienced sailor but I have spent a fair amount of time on the coastal waters of South Carolina and Georgia, mostly in powerboats.  For years I have daydreamed about finding a small sailboat to use as a repair project as I learn all that I can about becoming a dedicated sailor and fate dropped Wonderful Tonight in my lap.  From what I've learned so far about the history of Clipper Marines, this boat appears to be an ideal situation for me.  I don't think most of the needed repairs are severe enough that I can't handle them myself, but I look forward to any tips and insights that any of you may be able to provide in my efforts to get the boat back into great shape.

Without getting into too much detail with my first post, my biggest obstacle that I want to correct before the boat ever hits the water is, you guessed it, the keel winch/pulley assembly which appears to need a total rebuild.  I have some ideas about how I want to approach the repair (mostly based on the experiences of other folks on these boards) but I welcome any and all advice that anyone can provide.

Other than that, the boat has a fair share of relatively minor glass dings and cracks that I want to address as well as an eventual redo of all of the interior in and effort to eventually get it to a point where she will be a relatively comfortable weekend home away from home as I explore the waters of the southern portion of the Intercoastal.  I look forward to sharing the details of my repair efforts and my eventual dispatches from the waters of the lowcountry.

As soon as I can figure out how to post pics to the forum I'll post some pics...

I have only been a CM owner myself for about two years and you'll find, as I did, there's a lot of experience and help to be found here within this forum. I've asked a lot of questions and have been helped by all the members.
I did run across a youtube video posted a while back where someone was replacing their keel winch. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

Hello Ken,
I too have a CM21 that I am rebuilding. Mine is the flush deck. If I can be of any help let me know.
I have redone the keel, built a new tip up rudder, and am now redoing the inside.
