One thing I notice is the cathedral, under the mast. On the sloop, it is moulded aluminum, and is very stout looking. On the ketch, it is thin aluminum, and looks pretty flimsily. Like the hardware that was on my Mac 25.

I wonder what other differences I will notice? The sloop is built like a WWII German army tank. Hope the ketch is also a stout ship. I am a very heavy person, and I have yet to find a place on the sloop where I step, and I feel any give. Rock solid everywhere. I expect the ketch to be the same. Hope I am not disappointed.

I would like to see a pic of that aluminum piece. Our sloop has a thin formed SS channel for a step. I am going to manufacture one a bit more stout.

Our PO and his son were both good sized and w/ the three of us milling around on deck and cabin top when we de-stepped I never felt a soft spot.

I will shoot a pic today. Maybe mine was replaced at some point. In pics, it is hard to tell if the masts are the same. My mast on the sloop is massive in stature and thickness compared to my Mac 25 I sold. Reading on the net, I gather the rigging takes a big jump up in stoutness on the big CM's. Never seeing the rigging on a CM30' or smaller CM's I have nothing to compare it to. Pics I have of my ketch model, make it difficult to figure out it it is the same mast, or a different one, except my ketch main mast does have two wenchs built into it about elbo high. My sloop does not have that feature.

I bet you are correct on the stainless steel material being used on the cathedral for the masts. Looks like stainless in the pics. The material on my sloop cathedral looks to be rather thick aircraft aluminum. It also does not have the mounting as a slip joint in the center, it has a fixed plate also of aircraft aluminum fastened to the bottom of the mast, and a fixed henge area to the aft of the mast, forcing one to step the mast from stern to bow in direction.

The seating in the cockpit, looks to be higher off the area for ones feet. Maybe an inch or two. Also the back of the seats in the cockpit is different. The backs are moulded around the wench on the ketch, not so on the sloop.

Everett?

Do you have a hole drilled through the center of your mast used to attach the mast to the cathridal?

Notice in my pictures, I do not tave that mounting system. I believe the ketch does have a center mounting hold using a stainless cathedral.

Funny that they would be different. My sloop was made in Mexico.

It sounds like our sloop is set up like your ketch. The mounting hole is through the mast about 3-4 inches high. The material is SS and only maaaybe 1/16 inch thick. Your sloops cathedral looks stout. I am going to manufacture a thicker one.

The mast has winches mounted as you describe on your ketch as well. I believe number 4s.

As for rigging Gone's wire is 5/32". I purchased 3/16" for the re-fit. I feel it will be better w/out adding unnecessary weight aloft. Also the wire and hardware is more common in that size the way we are doing it.

I believe ours was made in the US but don't remember getting a definitive answer from Greg. I do wish he would post his info here where it could be accessed as a whole. I saw a post not long ago on the other site and I believe he said the Mexican boats have "MM" in the HIN. If that is the case Gone is a US boat having only one "M".

Look forward to exploring this more.
