...that's not your real picture in your profile. You look familiar...like a Smurf! Or is that just a state fair artist's rendering/charicature of you? :-)

Well, the blond hair is correct and the blue eyes. Other than that, pictures of me are few and far between. They usually result in a string of broken camera's. Laughing

Thanks everyone. Embarassed

I only had one son remember my birthday and call me, this year. I'm sure it was his wife that reminded him. Suspect

The CM30 for a late birthday present, absolutely. And an early Mothers day present, 4th of July present, Fathers day present. Hey, when you live alone you can give yourself presents for almost any occasion, right? Besides, that way you know you'll like the present. My Christmas present was a 160 amp TIG welder. Not exactly a girly kind of present but it's sure coming in handy.

You weld! wOw! I weld, but my underground 220 line to my garage rotted out, and the dirt / grass / weeds caught fire. I turned off the breaker, and the dirt quit burning. lol

I will fix that someday, it only broke 10 years ago!

Sure, welding is fun Very Happy . My welder isn't anything special, a little 220 unit from Harbor Freight. It'll do stick or TIG, I prefer the TIG.

I'm still working on the headache bar for Glenda, turning my FL50 cab & chassis into a SportChassis. She'll look pretty good when I'm finished. Not to mention that I've just started building a trailer for a CM30. Why do I do all this? First, because it's rewarding to Do It Yourself. And second, with keeping a former spouse fed Mad I can't afford to have someone else build the toys I want.

It is awesome you have a welder AND know how to use it. And a TIG no less. They pay for them selves many times over. Plus your not at the mercy of someone elses shop schedule. And as you say it really is fun to do and very rewarding to know you built it yourself. Especially something like a boat trailer. The Tig is super nice for SS. You should be able to pay for all your boat parts by welding Stainless for other boaters. Cool

I was a welder in a past life, have owned a couple of Lincolns, SP250 when i had a small shop and a Power MIG 255 years later. Always wanted a TIG box but never got set up. I have full access to a shop back home though and will be camping out there when its time to build the stern arch for Gone. He has the foot pedal control and a pile of tungsten so i don't have to stop and sharpen every time I stick.

I feel there may be some welding threads in the future.
