are the metal clips for the jib brass or bronze?

First, just as a point of order, the clips are called hanks. Second they are made of bronze. Third the short answer is no.  Bronze quickly work hardens and fatigues if bent repeatedly. New ones for a sail our size run around $8.00 each. Available from Defender or West Marine, although West runs on the higher side for price and have stopped price matching unless there is a physical store within a 30 mile radius of the store you are dealing with.

yup, store dont have that size, but can order them.  8.95 each.  they had the smaller size in.  was trying to figure out a cheaper way, than to spend 150 bucks on more hanks.  thanks for that tho.  maybe some s clips i could bend? lol

ok, so what i did, is went down to home depot, spent 12 bucks worth of those 99 cent key "D" rings.  my 150 only took 9 of them.  worked like a charm!!!!  really easy to use.  said they were rated for 150 lbs, i doubt i have that much pull on any single one of them.  had a great day sailing, until i heard my "wheelbarrow handle" start cracking.  guess what my next investment is......yup

If those rings are not stainless steel or brass, they will rust and stain your sails.
