Numbskull at the credit union finally approved me...at the wrong amount...idiot! I did not ask to be approved at all. I asked her to see if they would lend on the boat...she had advised she thought not. Asked her to check on it. I wait and wait and finally can't take the susspense any more...call her...not available. Does not call me for 3 hours. You're approved for the boat! What? You're approved! so, come in and sign the loan papers. What rate, what amount, what terms, and what payment amount? You asked for $13,500. No i didn't. I said they were asking $15.5k and that I might offer $13.5k - $14.5k. Well, if you want more that that I have to send your load request back to underwriting? What? Are you freaking nuts? The woman does not listen!
Fine, lady...wait.

Yay! boat is still available. I called and offered $13.5k. He does not think the seller will accept that. Told him that was what I am offering. Says I'll need $1,350 down payment. Fine. I need to see the sails unfurled and raised, hear the motor start and run, and receive a run down on all of the functions of the boat. I haven't used a boat alcohol stove, a marine head, auto-pilot steering, have never run a diesel engine, wouldn't know a packing gland from an acne gland, have never used a furling jib, have never used lazy jacks, have never used hot and cold running water systems on a boat, have never used a holding tank, or flushed one, or even know where it is, I have never had an instrument panel like this one, have never had engine gauges, etc.

Oh, and I have not kept my wife up to speed on my search...last I heard was "sell your boat first!" If I can get it at $13.5k I should be able to convince her that its worth it. Better go once again lower my asking price...to $3,500.

She is quite a yacht. Much more modern and cleaner than the dream I am pursuing. But then, I will have a lot less invested in mine. (except sweat equity and elbow grease.)
