New boat! CM32 aft cockpit sloop Empty
PostSubject: New boat! CM32 aft cockpit sloop   New boat! CM32 aft cockpit sloop EmptyTue Feb 24, 2015 7:25 pm

I recently purchased a 32' CM aft cockpit sloop moored in the California Delta near SF bay. It is a 1977 and in great condition. I looks like it has never had a drop of water inside. Gel coat is a little dull, but a few test areas has shown it shines up nicely. I have had to work on the 25hp Yamaha in the well, but it is running fine now. I have replaced the plywood strip over the bilge as it was rotted. The PO drained the icebox into the bilge and did not have an auto switch for the pump.  If he forgot to flip the switch, the water just sat there. I have rectified both. She is sitting in the water now and has been bone dry since I cleaned the bilge. I will be taking her out in 6 days.

p.s. Gary, A Nebraska boy here, (very old boy) I went to high school in a little town north of you called Meadow Grove. I still have a lot of family in the Souix City area. Looks like you are really enjoying your boats. Hope spring comes to you soon.

New boat! CM32 aft cockpit sloop Empty
PostSubject: Re: New boat! CM32 aft cockpit sloop   New boat! CM32 aft cockpit sloop EmptySat Feb 28, 2015 2:41 pm

Thanks Gary. I hope to move it by the end of March. 14NM closer to SF bay. Bilge pump and switch repaired, ran new bilge pump hose, running lights repaired, engine repaired and running, replaced the plywood center bilge cover, mast lights not working. radio not working, lectrosan head repaired, but pump is not. Lots of accumulated debris to clean. Never enough time. I will need to haul it out soon. Two years of accumulated bottom growth to remove. I have a trailer that may be able to handle my CM32, but I have to sell the boat that is sitting on it and get new plates on the trailer to make it legal.
Question??? How much work is it to lower the mast? I read one of your posts that you had 4 or 5 helpers to raise one of yours.
Also I have a mast mounted antenna, the wiring for the mast lights has a connection on the deck, but the antenna wire comes out of the bottom of the mast, but I can't see any way to bring the cable into the cabin. How does this work on yours? Thanks for any help you can provide.
It looks like I may be very close to Deltarat64

The more people (if they know what they are doing) the better it goes.  My wife and I have done it by ourselves, but it is not easy, or as easy with more help.  The 32's had two weights of masts.  The tall mast needs a rigging pole to get that one up with two people.   I am not well verse on the wiring in the Mast
