| Seriously? I guess it was sold as a trailer sailboat, and no one figured it would ever be tied to a rowdy dock! My other 32" Clipper Marine has 8 Dock Cleats. 3 On this boat. That seems to me to be rather skimpy on a rather necessary set of safety equipment. I would think six at a minimum would have been the factory standard. Now my job is tofigure out where to add several more dock cleats so to best suit the needs of the boat for the next 40 years. | |

| Definitely!! I think they pulled them out of the same bin as 30's and maybe even the 26's? Someone should have stepped back and looked at the boat they created w/ the 32. Trailer able, yes, but not really practical, and capable of waters where larger hardware is needed. Same goes for the pintles and gudgeons. Only 3? Has to be some missing. Should have had 6 from the factory?? How are they configured? We have six cleats plus the mooring bit on Gone. They are solid and handle 5/8" line OK so leaving them alone for now. Switching to 8" next winter so we can handle 3/4". Also want to add two to the stern rail. | |

| My factory order sheet says three. One at the bow and one on each side towards the stern. The sloop has two at the bow two midship two towards the stern and two on the stern on either side of the rudder. In several respects the later made aft cockpit version is a better in little aspects. The bow has a locker for the anchor, the bow berth is two inches longer (as I remember), the cabin headroom is an inch taller, the bilge is deeper making room for a bilge pump to be hidden from sight, more seating in the main cabin, much longer cockpit.
I think somewhere the center cockpit shines differently than the aft cockpit model is a little bit of a unique factor. Is unique better? Not better, just different. Had wandering Wallace been in original condition with helm steering I would have been well satisfied. Her PO installed amenities drove me to find another boat closer to the original design. I also really wanted steering over a rudder. Just me.

| Seems crazy that they only put three on the aft cabin. Cool that you have the factory order sheet. Helps eliminate a potential mystery. We have plenty of them all ready w/ these boats. And your sloop has the two on the stern that I plan to add. | |

| Yes, but they look like Walmart vinyl ones the PO added. That boat is chocked full of PO additions. Walmart dock cleats? Not on my boats. | |

| The problem with just adding dock cleats anywhere is the toe edge alond the sides of the boat. Where there is a factory dock cleat, there is a drop in that safety edge to allow the dock line to not rub the boat and chafe the line. If you just put them where you want, it may not be as good an installation as the factory could have done. | |

| Agreed would take some re-fab to do it amidships and forward. I just need to up size those.
I will be add ing two to the stern rail. Took pics a couple weeks ago when we were at the boat. None of them show the area. I will see if I have one on PB or possibly all ready on this site.

| Found one. The stern rail is basically wide open so it should be mostly painless. Why do most of my boat pics have snow/ice in them?! I gotta change that!! . | |
