Proposed Bow Spirit, Cutter Rigging, Sugar Scoop, and and ..........

I did a little measuring on the light table this evening, and the length I need to come forward to move the roller furling to Sugar Bee is shown by the red additions, or about 5 feet. Increased the single front sail, to two, hey, Crealock was thinking about a Cutter Ketch, he just got busy with other projects. lol

Also note the addition of a couple feet in length by the addition of a sugar scoop stern. My only chance of getting out of the water on to the boat. (I don't do ladders, a long story)

Counting the bow spirit, she will measure around 40' in length.

Project starts as soon as she gets pulled, this week. Masts are down now, but we ran out of daylight to put her on her trailer. Maybe Tuesday.



Masts? I may leave them, but I am going to move the mizzen back enough to allow seating for the skipper at the helm.

Careful Gary, the extra length will take you over the line and cost you double to check in to the Bahamas!!

The sugar scoop should be interesting. Also a good safety feature for, as you mention, getting back on board from the water.

We will be building some kind of platform on the stern of Gone for the same reason. Just makes sense for swimming/snorkeling/getting in and out of the dingy. April told a friend of ours about it. Mind you he lives aboard and can't swim. I would think he'd love the idea. He said "You don't want that. You just need an inflatable dingy. Easier to get on and off the boat with.". Yes, he has seen our boat a couple of times but apparently doesn't realize the amount of freeboard these boats have. You could stack two inflatables on our hard dingy and would still need to clamber aboard.

The cost of cruising never occurred to me.
