| Posted on craigslist today. $300 This will make for comfortable times at the slip this summer. Carry-On by Crusair. 4800 BTUs. Should be enough to cool main cabin and VBerth. Puts condensation water over the side out a small hose. Looks like new! Takes up no space inside the sailboat when in use, sits over the VBirth hatch opening. Will tuck into the engine compartment, out of the way, when not in use. So, I have a fridge, microwave, AC, what else am I missing? O yeah, the boat is still at the body shop being wet sanded / polished. lol | |

| No AC users on this forum?
In Nebraska in August it hits 110 in the shade. Nights cool off to 85. AC is a must!

| 110 is downright chilly.
Seriously, our nighttime lows in summer are above 100. I'll either stay away from my sailboat all summer (likely) or I'll get a similar unit.

| That's a looking nice unit Gary. But I can't understand why you wouldn't just do what the PO of Seaweed did: If we were living aboard at a slip we might be tempted to seal it better and leave it. However I will be pulling it as soon as I get my fiberglass supplies down here in a few weeks. | |

| sorry its blurry. Ad today from Home Depot. $99.96 5,050 BTUs Cools rooms up to 150 square feet. 2 cooling and 2 fan speeds I can rig it several ways...looking for others' comments/experiences... I can mount foreward of the forward berth hatch and cleverly fashion some sort of plenum or ductwork...or I can just set it in the forward berth, all the way against the wall of the anchor locker and just point it aft through the v-berth opening towards where we all are during day and most nightime activities, or place it in the compaionway opening and place the top hatch board on top and stuff towels into the sides for nights. When I am all done with it, cover it up and secretly place it in my large dockbox at my slip.. Other suggestions? 2 questions: I mean, seriously, for $100 and that kind of cooling power...? Will it work well and is there a way to fashion a ductwork? | |

| Pay the shipping and you can have ours. Would have to check the BTUs but I'll bet it's at least as big as the one in your post. Heck it even has remote.
I think your V-berth idea may be easiest and least in the way. When it's time to sail it wouldn't be on deck and attatched to the hatch. That is what makes Gary's look like a nice option. The portability of it.

| Ev, don't I have to pull from outside air? That's what most of the unit is, right? The blower vents are small relative to the intake and cooling coils? Clearly, I've demonstrated time and again that I'm no engineer, but, could it work just sitting in the foreward v-berth, pulling air form inside and recirculating it agian and again? Would that not axfixiate an occupant? I don't really know but thought I'd ask while I still can. +4 | |

| Most units have a selector for vent open/vent closed. Closed re-circulates room air so I don't see a problem having the whole unit inside. As long as condensation is not an issue it should be fine?? Not sure if there is a safety risk by having the whole unit inside. I am no engineer either. | |

| Because I want to get the A/C hooked up tomorrow or Sat., I will probably just buy one. I will likely just pick up a new unit and mount it in the companionway with newly fabricated boards and a mounting system...You mean the main forum?
But, sincerely, Ev, thank you for the offer.
Posted the same inquiry about a/c, on the main trailero sailer forum...there are so many people on the forum at once that I literally could not get off it because replies and replies to replies kept posting. 18 at last count in like 30 minutes.

| I figured logistically shipping you an AC unit doesn't make sense but wanted to offer anyway. Best of luck and cool driftings Mon. | |

| Some of the Mac X & M folks have tried mods where they installed window air units on their sailboats.
I would have purchased a new fang-led unit where the hot air vents outside via an exhaust hose had I not stumbled across this. BTW, these are no longer being made. Discontinued.
