| The first Clipper Marine I ever saw, about one year ago, was a Clipper Marine 30. In Clipper Marine circles, we tend to think of that boat having several configurations, and in fact, that is not true at all. There are Clipper Marine 30's, and there are Clipper Marine 9.3's. This is a whole new design, changing many aspects of the 30, to a whole new level. Interesting to note, the CM30 designation on the sail. The multiple ways these sailboats were marketed, does make it difficult to trace the history of the designs. Seems the CM30 as well as the CM32, are checkered in separate specs, for two different boats, with shared names. Does help add to the confusion. Maybe that is what makes it interesting researching these old sailboats. Again, note at the bottom of the last paragraph, the ad again calls the sailboat pictured a 9.3. Says ask your dealer about the Clipper Marine 9.3. Seems pretty clear, this was not called a CM30. Easy way to tell them apart, 1 large arrow shaped side window, CM30, 2 large stacked side windows, CM9.3 Or 2 large windows, and 2 small windows on the 9.3 and 1 large arrow shaped window, and three smaller windows. CM30 Displacment 3500 pounds Draft 2' 8" Ballast 800 pounds No built in fuel tank Price $8,400 CM9.3 Displacment 4400 pounds Draft 3'6" Ballast 1100 pounds Built in 18 gallon fuel tank Price $10,950

| Compare an ad for an earlier 30. Different specs. This is also the time the outboard well went from forward in the cockpit to aft. Many people agree, that was an upgrade as the boat is much easier to navagate under power as the thrust is directly hitting the rudder. | |

| For those of you that own a 9.3, there is a marked distinction between the two sailboats. If one could be called blue water, it would be the 9.3, as I am sure it was built as a coastal cruiser with trips to outer islands being well in their abilities.
While I think the CM30 was a fun sailboat, and possibly easier to trailer than the later 9.3, the CM30 is built more like the CM26, only being a little longer. The CM9.3 is built much more like a CM32 aft cockpit sloop, but a little easier to trailer. | |

| We do have the Clipper 30 / 9.3 It's a great boat, it was badly water damaged. We need a manual for it. Specs on everything as we rebuild this fine boat. She loves sailing the Cheaspeak Bay! | |

| Hi this is David I have a 2 forward hatch cm which is 30' long. We have been calling it a cm30 but it may indeed be a 9.3, it also has the built in 2 burner stove. I have some pics under steel keel repair and am in Baltimore.berthed at Bowleys Marina | |
