Gary, Penny, anyone who has had to clean the moss/lichen/mildew from the top sides of their boats. What product/s did you find best for getting that long term growth off??

Thanks, Ev.

I used wet & forget. Bucket of water, car wash soap and pour in wet & forget. Then lots of elbow grease.

The wet & forget works by just spraying it on and walking away but that takes a long time, months.

Thanks Gary, will see if I can find that. Brushes and elbow grease ready, don't have time for multiple product testing. I know you have been through it recently in double. Laughing

Want to get the major stuff off while we are at the boat for a couple more days. Less do do this fall when we come back to move her south. Can't wait.

The wet and forget (ace hardware) will work at cleaning off mold type growths while she sits. No elbow grease. I had no time to wait.

Another product I purchased was a mold and mildew spray sold at Walmart in the marine section. It is a spray you use with a brush. Used that on the sloop. Both work good. The wet and forget works by just sitting. It costs about sixty bucks a gallon so it had better work. Lol

Delute according to directions and then spray the whole boat exterior

Found the Wet and Forget, mixed according to specs. Rather than spraying on though I used my soft brush on a long handle and applied similar. Got it good and wet, now I am forgetting it. Tomarrow I will scrub out the cockpit and sides of boat. I will leave the top till we get back in a couple of months. Supposedly the stuff will keep working it's magic that long.

Kind of spendy ($30) but it loosened up the green sheen easily. Hope the lichen comes off as easy when we come back. Used half of the gallon jug today leaving half for the next time.

It's a shame I let her get so bad. Sundays used to be my only day off. I would spend 2 hours each Sunday morning cleaning/organizing the 4300 International work truck. After that one of the personal vehicles always needed something. Was too burned out on cleaning afterwards to give proper attention to Gone. Never again!!

Simple Green is working nicely on the inside. Cabin is not bad though as I had always wiped it down at least once in the spring every year.
