As one reads through all things Clipper Marine, one funny thing pops out at you.
When they introduced the Aft Cabin 32 in late 1975 through early 76, they did not know what to call her.
Here are just some of the names Clipper Marine called this sailboat in their published literature.
Aft Cabin
Aft Stateroom
32' Diesel Motorsailer
Skippers Aft Cabin
Owners Berth
Skippers Berth
Center Cockpit
I may remember some others, and add them later.
One 3" x 5" advertisement in a Rudder sailing magazine, March 1975 called it four names in one ad, Skippers Aft Cabin, Owners Cabin, 32' Diesel Motorsailer, and Clippers New 32'
Unofficially, one silly guy on another forum swears up and down it was called a trunk version at the very end, but I find no collaboration of that. Why trunk? A no windows version, without cushions? lol
One thing is for sure, the folks at Clipper Marine sure made is difficult to let us people here in the future know just exactly what was going on in their minds with the 32.
To compound it even more, both the Aft Cabin, Center Cockpit version and the sloop with the huge cockpit are called the same thing, Clipper Marine 32.
If I could go back in time, I would call the Aft Cabin a "Clipper Marine 31" (like her sister ship the Harstad 31) and call the newer and final version a 32. Or maybe a Harstad 31, Clipper Marine 32 and a Clipper Marine 33? See, even in my criticisms, I cannot decide what they should have been called. lol
