| People not knowing me see the threads on here about sailboats have no idea what and who I really am. What I am is a collector and horder. It is no shock to people that know me to learn I own two 32 foot sailboats. They might say, what, only two???
I own warehouses to store my treasures in. Stuff I may not see or need in years.
Recently, I have started selling off my junk. Stuff I do not need. Stuff I have no use for. We have a four bedroom house full of this STUFF.
I have been watching live Aboards videos on you tube this week. Fascinating, remarkable really. My wife wants little to do with sailing, and selling everything and moving onto a boat is out of the question for her.
O well, dear, when you cannot find me somewhere down the road, and my phone is disconnected, my business is sold off and my mail starts stacking up, you will notice if you look, my boat is no longer at the marina.
I may be in the pininsula of mexico,

| Contuinued ....... Or in the keys, or points east southeast of there.
I do not want a marina, mooreball or such, drop anchor off shore of some cheep place to come ashore a couple times a week for water and food.
No Internet, but a package of forever stamps would fit on the boat nicely.
Give me about a year, and then check your mail for an occ. forever stamp in the mailbox | |

| Where does collecting end and hoarding begin? When do we stop owning STUFF and STUFF starts to own us? We owned an antique store for almost 5 years. Partly because we liked running a business. Mostly because it fed our collecting habits. I can't believe how much time we have invested in the last couple of years trying to rid ourselves of collections and STUFF. I can't believe how much we still have back at the old home. It is hard to be free when all that STUFF needs to be cared for. At least the kids grew up and fend for themselves. One son and his wife even rent the house and take care of it for us. But our STUFF still needs our care. We pay monthly for a 10x20 storage unit in town. We pay the neighbor to store April's Mustang. I have my cellared beer collection in storage at my buddies liquer store. The 10'x40' three season room at the house is packed and the kids can't access it yet. Our antique wooden V-hull takes up the shed. The Clipper still takes up driveway space. We can never be fully free to dissapear over the horizon till all the STUFF is gone. Part of the lure of living aboard is to only have the essentials that we need to live. ''Freedoms just another word for nothin' left to lose" sounds good to me. | |
