Hull numbers on boats of our vintage go as follows
First three letters are the company making the boat
In our case, CLM, CLipper Marine
That letter designation has been given to a new company as the old company no longer makes sailboats
The last 3 digits are the date of manufacture
The digit 4 from the end is an M for USA manufactured
If the 5th from the end is an M, made in Mexico
The group of numbers between the company code and the country and date code is the hull number. That is where I do not fully understand my hull number on my 32 aft cabin.
My hull number is 05008
I have been told, mine was the 500 32 made.
If that is true, what is the 8 for?
I do not believe there are 5008 32's made
Have a hard time Beliving they cranked out over 500 of them
Anyone that wants to explain my hull number, feel free to do so.
CLM05008M76A
I get this from the title. Maybe I should check the boat
