| After several months of trading occasional emails, often times a month apart, today I shook hands (via telephone) with Hal to purchase his Clipper Marine 32 Ketch and six wheel trailer, in California. Thank You Hal, I will take good care of her, and put her to good use.

| Holy Cow Gary!! Congratulations once again!! You are going to have that museum are you not?! Now you need to buy either the 26 in Key West so you can hit both coasts this month or buy Marks 26 if he is still selling. You will meet myself or Mark in the process too. Heck if you bought Mark's you could swing through AZ and hitch it behind the 32 on the way home. C'mon man, don't stop now, your on a rroooolllllll!! | |

| On a rrooollll? Lets take a moment to assess the situation shall we. The Rig is rolling, almost from coast to coast. What's the average price of diesel these days? The boats are rolling in, almost like a tidal wave hitting a marina. The cash is rolling out - wait a second, that one applies to almost all of us, doesn't it? Never mind. I guess the real question is, are we having fun yet? Because, if we're having fun - lets do it again. |

| Yeah, I am still selling. But I had no idea you would even remotely have any interest in my CM26. That's not why I invited you; I invited you to meet another kindred sould, sailing nut who might be passing through, to take he and his wife out on our local lake. I'm excited for you and your current adventures. | |

| Closer to bringing home "Suger Bee". Her tires are reported dry rotted from age & neglect. She gets new ones Monday. That is a thousand bucks! Ouch! Then she starts headed this way.

| The tall picture, notice the broken mast rigging in the picture? The current owner took her out the first time and things started flying / falling, so he brought her back into port and spent a little money on her. All new cables, and 148 pounds of stuff removed from her hull. That was several years ago. I believe he purchased her without a trailer, and found a trailer later that used to be under a 30 foot Columbia. | |

| So is the new rigging in place or yet to be installed? What was removed, hardware for rigging?
It sounds like this is going to be interesting.....

| The new rigging should all be ready to go. It was replaced by a boating company in Northern CA. before it was brought south and placed in storage. Boat has been sitting there, according to storage manager, 5 years or so. At $70 dollars a month for storage, selling the boat, is only going to dent his storage fees for all that time. - Everett CM32 wrote:

Thanks Mark, You'll forgive me if I sound discouraged. Right now I've about come to the conclusion that I'll have to come up with a design from the one photo I have and what I know about the Munchkin and her trailer. You don't by chance have a picture of Desert Star, on her trailer, from the front do you? The Bali Hai is 4ft longer than the Munchkin and that extra length is all in the center. The contour of the bottom should be about the same, perhaps a little less upward angle on the stern. So if I take the position of the Munchkin's supports and stretch them out 4ft, add a 4th support in the middle, Take into account the difference in the length of the keel, mount a plate on the axles for the keel to rest on, add lots of cross bracing, and cross my fingers, I should have an acceptable design. I'd take extra bunk board material that I can added if needed to account for mistakes in the design and I wouldn't put the carpet on the bunk boards until everything matched. Sounds like a pretty shaky limb to be out on, doesn't it? Actually the reason I'm being discouraged is that my son (the one that just got his class A CDL) told me that I can't take Glenda into California. Some state agency, CARB or something like that, would stop me at the border because Glenda smokes a bit more than she should. I guess I'll have to take his Dodge Ram 350 instead. |

| Funny, at the Mexican border, some law allows Mexican trucks with no safety equipment and little else cross the borders hauling freight. But us Americans, cannot cross a state line. That is the country we live in these days. I can take a detailed video of my trailer, the one purchased with my 32 sloop. I will post it on You Tube. It has no boat on it right now. Gets a paint job before the boat goes back on it. The 30 and the 32's are pretty close to the same size hull wise, just an additional two feet in length. - Penny CM26 #558 wrote:

| I like this part of the description; " Fiberglass construction was in its infancy in 1975 and so not knowing for sure its ultimate strength, they built it “hell for stout”."
More like 10 years earlier and by the mid Seventies Clippers I don't believe that to be true.
14k was a pretty ambitious asking price eh?

| Gary, I hope I'm wrong or that it's just the way the light is reflecting off of Venus, or something as equally silly. But, in the picture above, it looks like a shark took a bite or two out of your rudder. |

| One on eBay now for $13,500. Out of my league. http://boats.oodle.com/view/1976-clipper-marine-32ft-sailboat-cutter-rig-w-berth-in-san-rafael/2922062893-sausalito-ca/ This boat has only one mast. Also lists as on the boat, a bathtub. I wonder where that is located? I would love a bathtub on a sailboat! Big three person tub with whirlpool jets.
My guy is still in the area, looking for a couple tires. Nail biting, I am.
