There is a fellow here locally that has a small (about 13') fiberglass sailboat for sale. It is sloop rigged and the main has what appears to be a kite with a tail on it. It is diamond shaped and sqaured off at the bottom where the tail starts. Sorry no pictures. The center board and rudder both appear to be some type of plastic. I can't find any manufature's label on it. One other thing the mast sits on a pin coming out of the deck and pivots about 20 degrees either side of center. He only wants a couple hundred for it, and it would be a fun little boat for some of our smaller lakes around here.

Any ideas who made or what it is called?

It is probably a 12' racing skiff. With the proper sail and balance ( one or two crew on a trapeze ) these little boats a will plane.

The advantage to a pivoting mast is aerodynamics. It helps
decrease the dead air spot behind the mast on a closehaul. It is supposed to give you about a 10%
improvement in air flow.
