| Hello,
I recently bought a CM 26 (1974) and have been playing around with a roller furling that came with it. From my limited knowledge of roller furlings, I believe most have foil that surrounds the front stay so the Jib can roll up easier and so you can sail with the Jib rolled halfway out?
Either way I have attached the furling to how I believe it should be, but I realized that there is no foil to go around the front stay. I know smaller boats don't have the foil and just wrap up around the stay, but I wasn't sure if this was the case.

| Do you have a model number of the Roller Furling or pics? That would help us see what you have.
Welcome to the forum! Good to have some more CM26 people. That is the boat I would like to own had I not been born so damn tall.
The design is night and day better than a Mac 25 IMHO.

| Thanks for the quick reply Gary. I actually tried to upload the photos using the icon "host an image". This wasn't allowing me to upload (ie nothing happens when I click upload). I believe this is due to security settings on my work computer. I'll try and give this a shot when I'm home. | |

| Thanks for the help with uploading the photos Gary. I figure the Roller will stay upright once I attach the front stay. I'm just not 100 percent sure if I attached it correctly and if it will roll the jib up. (seems to be a very old model) The picture below has another piece I found in the bag... does this have to do with the roller or no? | |

I believe the drum piece should shackle/clip on top of the drum in the first pics. Not sure how as I am unfamiliar w/ that exact set up. Just going by the looks of it and what I see in my furler. All the best, Ev.

| Here is a picture of a modern furler for a smaller boat (looks pretty similar to my furler). What is the smaller piece in the picture used for and how is it connected. Do you think that previous picture I posted (of unknown instrument) may be similar to this? Thanks, Charlie | |

| The smaller piece is a Head Swivel which attaches to the halyard and top of the sail.
If your head sail has a wire luff rather than hanks the piece you are holding in the picture "may" be a head swivel. No personal experience w/ them though. When I get down to the sailing club I will see if any of their Catalina 22s have something similar. Will run down there this afternoon.

| Nothing at the sailing club resembling your set up. All were either jury rigged ( low bud jet configurations) or solid stay units.
Will look into it more to marrow as I don't think you have a head swivel in the picture. What you have looks like the lower swivel on my roller furling.
